WIPO China: High School Students Explore Unlimited Potential of Innovation at WIPO Office in China

2024年1月25日，北京师范大学附属中学的16名学生，怀着好奇心和创造力走进世界知识产权组织中国办事处。本次访问使他们得以探索创新在塑造未来方面的无尽可能。产权组织中国办事处主任刘华就创新在未来发展中的作用分享了宝贵见解，并强调了产权组织作为联合国机构致力于建设国际知识产权生态系统的使命——让世界各地的创新创造都能在知识产权的支撑下造福每一个人。
On January 25, 2024, sixteen students from the High School Affiliated to Beijing Normal University, brimming with curiosity and creativity, visited the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Office in China. This excursion allowed them to explore the vast potential of innovation in shaping the future. Ms. Liu Hua, Director of WIPO Office in China, shared her valuable insights on the role of innovation in future developments, emphasizing WIPO’s mission as a United Nations agency dedicated to the construction of international intellectual property ecosystem that enables innovation and creativity through IP for everyone, everywhere.

刘华强调，专利、商标、版权和外观设计等全球无形资产价值庞大，已经超过了74万亿美元。她强调了建立平衡、有效、富有活力、面向未来的全球知识产权生态系统的重要性。她还介绍了产权组织提供的包括政策协调、注册体系、数据库、合作平台和能力建设在内的五套金钥匙，可以为个人赋能，提升企业和国家的竞争力。
Ms. Liu Hua highlighted the immense value of global intangible assets, such as patents, trademarks, copyrights, and industrial designs, surpassing $74 trillion. She stressed the importance of a balanced, effective, dynamic, and future-oriented global IP ecosystem. She also introduced the ‘five golden keys’ offered by WIPO, which include policy coordination, registration systems, databases, cooperation platforms, and capacity building. These tools are instrumental in empowering individuals and enhancing the competitiveness of businesses and nations.

刘华还在发言中阐述了产权组织2022年全球创新指数揭示的两大创新浪潮，包括建立在超级计算、人工智能和自动化基础上的数字创新浪潮，以及建立在生物技术、纳米技术、新材料和其他科学突破基础上的深层科学浪潮。这两大创新浪潮已经深刻地改变了未来的生产生活和娱乐方式，也彰显了学生们据此调整学习态度乃至未来职业准备的重要性。
During her presentation, Ms. Liu Hua elaborated on two major innovative waves identified in WIPO’s 2022 Global Innovation Index: the Digital Innovation Wave, rooted in supercomputing, AI, and automation, and the Deep Science Wave, based on biotechnology, nanotechnology, new materials, and other scientific breakthroughs. These waves are significantly reshaping the way we work, live, and play, underscoring the need for students to adapt their learning attitudes and future career preparations.

本次活动还安排了互动环节，学生们踊跃分享对知识产权、创新创造及未来科技发展的展望。刘华也解答了同学们关于产权组织架构、未来专业选择和个人技能提升等方面的问题。
The event included an interactive session where students eagerly engaged in discussions about IP, innovation, and their visions for the future of technology. Ms. Liu Hua addressed their queries about WIPO’s structure, future professional choices, and personal skill development.
对于身处新数字时代的学生，刘华提出了如下建议：
• 保持信息畅通：定期了解新兴技术和知识产权趋势。
• 培养创造力：参与促进创新和创造性思维的活动。
• 发展技术技能：掌握人工智能、生物技术和数据科学等领域的知识。

For students in the new digital era, Ms. Liu Hua recommended that the students:
• Stay Informed: Regularly update themselves on emerging technologies and IP trends.
• Cultivate Creativity: Engage in activities that foster innovation and creative thinking.
• Develop Technical Skills: Acquire knowledge in areas like AI, biotechnology, and data science.
• Understand IP Rights: Learn about intellectual property laws and their applications.
• Explore Interdisciplinary Studies: Combine technology with other fields such as business, law, or arts.
• Participate in Innovation Projects: Join or initiate projects that solve real-world problems.
• Build a Global Perspective: Understand how innovation and IP rights impact and are influenced by global dynamics.
• Embrace Lifelong Learning: Continuously update their skills and knowledge to stay relevant in a rapidly changing world.

The visit concluded with a photo session and a tour of the office area, giving students an intimate glimpse into the workings of an international organization in China. This visit not only enhanced their understanding of intellectual property protection but also ignited their enthusiasm for technological innovation.
